October 9, 2021 - Chip and Brian's Fly-In

Chip and Brian had a fly-in party Saturday afternoon for family and friends.  There was food and drink to be had in the Community Hangar.  Although the flying weather wasn't the best -- the wind was constantly shifting and was usually a crosswind, along with a cloudy day -- Chip, Brian, Charlie and Joe gave an unbelievable amount of rides in the Stearman, RV-8, Decathelon and 172.   I gave a few rides in the RV-7.  Mugsy flew over in his RV-8 and took all the great flying pictures, seen below.

Low pass with smoke!

There I go.  I took one young man flying who is an A-10 pilot.  He did things with my plane I haven't seen before including flying the A-10's ground attack profile.  That involved pulling hard out of a 45 degree dive.  Another flight was with an Airbus pilot.  We did some 30 degree bank turns on that one.  Just kidding.

Really close up.

The smoke system is working well these days.  It helps when the injectors are clean.

There goes Brian and pax.

Here comes Brian for a low pass as Chip in the Stearman is just landing.

Mugsy and I did some low-passes in formation, then we did a little form practice over the Eastern Shore with Joe M. and I in my plane.

Play Corn Hole at Essex Skypark!  That's the the decrepit FBO Building that no one uses (and there is no FBO) in the background.

Sadly, the Community Hangar is mostly filled with junk and a hangar queen these days but Chip and Brian were able to get some tables set up.

Another look at the Community Hangar.

Despite the iffy weather, it was a great aviation day.
